CO2NE today announced that it was in advanced negotiations to build 8 renewable energy PowerStation sites in Sweden with a further 10 in discussion- a total of over 100MW of both electrical and heat capacity.
It’s PowerStation technology, containing an advanced Biomass Gasifier, delivers net outputs of electrical and thermal energy in equal measure. As a consequence, CO2NE claims that it can sell heat more economically than its competitors and build local renewable energy solutions where others cannot. All PowerStations are fired by renewably sourced Swedish Woodfuels, underlining the CO2 Neutral credentials.
‘We’ve had a great response from Municipalities and Industry’, said Stefan Andersson, CO2NE’s Chairman. ‘We’re a Swedish Business owned and operated by experienced Swedish people, many having had careers with the larger power generators but now keen to work towards helping Sweden become Fossil Fuel Free by 20:20. Municipality and industrial clients alike have really liked the fact that they just sign a heat offtake contract to secure a renewable energy solutions, not having to bother with Capital expenditure, project management and operating their own boiler or steam turbine.’
CO2NE today announced that is making significant progress with its work to create a Consumer Cooperative Association in Sweden to allow individual Swedish consumers to benefit from investing in and buying its 100% green electricity.
Taking their lead from the Scandinavia’s wind industry which has largely been funded by Coops, CO2NE has structured a new Swedish Cooperative as a Green Electricity Retailer that returns all of it’s profits to it’s members- typically householders in Sweden.
‘We like the idea of distributed ownership’, says Stefan Andersson, CO2NE’s Chairman. ‘We have secured relationships with a Major Swedish Bank to make it easy to invest in the Coop, one of Europe’s largest electricity traders to buy ‘Green’ electricity and Scandinavia’s leading Utility company IT supplier to deliver the level of service you would expect of a national scale electricity retailer.’
Unlike Wind Energy developers, the process of securing planning permission for one of CO2NE’s wood fired PowerStations is completed in a few months rather than several years. Therefore CO2NE is able to scale it’s supply of 100% green electricity relatively quickly to match the demands of what is expected to be a very fast growing and power hungry Coop.
