Green’ Power and Heat generation
- using best in class Technologies
CO2NE’s primary objective is to build own and operate Green power and heat generation fuelled by Sweden’s renewable resources. Rather than being tied to one particular technology or manufacturer CO2NE chooses to be technology agnostic, free to select the best commercially proven plant available in Biomass Energy generation.
We focus on small to mid-scale energy generation- 0.5 to 20MW electricity capacity and0.5MW to 40MW thermal capacity However, after years of assessing technologies we have our favourites and hold regional licences for particular forms of Biomass Gasification and Combustion + ORC (Organic Rankin Cycle) Turbine.
- Biomass Gasification PowerStation
- Gasification is a process that has been used for gas production energy generation and even transport for 150 years. In Europe, every major town had their own gasifiers producing town or coal gas from coal. However, the advent of cheap natural gas and liquid fossil fuels saw the decline of gasification during the 1950s.
Today’s duel market drivers of high fossil fuel prices and climate change economics now make energy generation from biomass very attractive. Accordingly many organisation now developing gasification plant of all sizes specifically for energy generation. Experts within CO2NE and NEE have assessed many gasification designs and build combined heat and power generation with we consider to be the best commercially proven technologies available.
Dependant on scale, either a downdraft or a combined Up / Downdraft design is used to generate equal amounts of heat and green electricity- a hugely better ratio that can be achieved with traditional steam turbine energy generation.
- Biomass Combustion + ORC Turbine PowerStation
- ORC turbines are similar in principle to their steam turbine cousins but operate and lower temperatures and pressures. They are ideally suited to Biomass combustion boilers, operating at the mid scale and offer considerable safety, reliability and operating cost advantages. CO2NE and NEE experts have assessed many designs and build combined heat & power generation using this technology where there is a ready demand for heat either into a District Heating network or as process heat or, by adding in suitable absorption refrigeration, cooling.
